Dr. Yongming Li is a licensed physician and acupuncturist. He holds a bachelor’s degree in medical science from Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a master’s degree from Illinois State University, and a Ph.D. in immunology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He completed his residency in pathology at North Shore University Hospital in New York and specialized in dermatopathology at Columbia University and the Ackerman Institute.
Dr. Li has authored articles in various journals including Nature Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Cancer Research, and Journal of the American Medical Association, as well as the Journal of Anatomy, both as the first author and corresponding author. He also has served as a peer reviewer for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and has received the NIH Merit Award.
Dr. Li was awarded the inaugural Tian Sheng Copper Man Award by the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies in 2017, and the Second Prize for Technological Progress by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and in 2019 for his research on “Mast Cells and the Substance of Acupoints.”
The author of “The Legend of Acupuncture in America”, Dr. Li has received four U.S. medical patents and multiple research grants. He has been involved in teaching doctoral programs at several Chinese medicine colleges in the United States and has served as chairman of the board of directors of the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Dr. Li was also the former president of the American Traditional Chinese Medicine Society (ATCMS), and former chairman of the American Association for Professional Acupuncture and Safety (AAPAS). He currently practices in New Jersey, specializing in dermatopathology diagnosis and clinical acupuncture.
